The transcripts of the trial of Charles Taylor, former President of Liberia. More…

Your Honour, the context in which he said that he had saved a lot of lives was the passage that I read to him from his interview. What I am really in effect doing is inviting the Prosecution to find out from the witness which it is. Did he save a lot of people's lives, or was he constantly ignored? The two can't stand together. What I read to him, from an interview in 2002, was, "The G5 commander saved a lot of people's lives. He was kind to the civilians". Well, he is talking there about the G5 commander presumably in his role as G5 commander, i.e., the person who processes complaints by civilians.
