Your Honour, before my learned friend starts her cross-examination, because I had not previously met this witness, I took steps through the court officers, through Madam Court Officer, to assure him that I was going to look after his interests this morning and thereafter in Mr Griffiths's absence on mission. And I know from my conversations with Madam Court Officer that the witness is somewhat uneasy about the prospect of having what is to him a total stranger looking after his interests. And I thought it right to raise that with the Court so that you yourselves are aware of his concerns in that regard before we commence.
